As the unprecedented coronavirus disease outbreak continues to unfold, the American Red Cross is focused on continuing to carry out their lifesaving mission while keeping our communities safe.
They have made the difficult decision to postpone their Sound the Alarm smoke alarm, home fire safety and rally-day install event that was scheduled for Saturday, April 11.
This decision is in line with the latest guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that organizers cancel or postpone in-person events of 50 or more people in the next eight weeks. While they are disappointed to have to take this step, they feel it is necessary in the interest of public health.
As soon as it is safe to do so, the event will be rescheduled.
Please be assured that Red Cross teams will continue to respond to home fires and other local disasters.
